NIFT Cut Off

The cut off is the minimum rank/score required to secure admission into a particular NIFT campus and programme.
It represents the closing rank in each counselling round. If your rank is equal to or better than the closing rank, you can get admission to that seat.

Cut offs are released after each round of counselling.
They are published on the official NIFT admissions website.
Different for UG (B.Des, B.FTech) and PG (M.Des, M.FTech, MFM).

Factors Affecting NIFT Cut Off

The cut off is not fixed every year; it changes due to:

Campus popularity (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru usually have the highest cut offs).
Number of applicants (more competition = higher cut offs).
Programme demand (Fashion Design & Communication Design cut offs are higher).
Category reservation (General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS all have different cut offs).
Seat availability (fewer seats = higher cut offs).
Difficulty level of exam (harder paper = lower cut off scores).

NIFT Exam & Seat Allocation

Admission is based on the NIFT Entrance Exam → CAT (Creative Ability Test), GAT (General Ability Test), and Situation Test/PI (for B.Des/M.Des).
Merit list is prepared, then counselling is held in multiple rounds.
Cut off = last rank admitted in a given round.

  - B.Des (Communication Design): Rank 50 – 144
- NIFT Mumbai

To get into top 3 campuses (Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru), you usually need an All India Rank under 200 (General).
