Creative Ability Test (CAT)
This section evaluates a candidate’s innovation and ability to translate ideas into visuals.
Design ability: Creative and innovative thinking, use of color, and composition.
Observation skills: Ability to visualize and develop concepts.
Drawing skills: Sketching, shading, proportion, and perspective.
Imagination & originality: Conceptual clarity and storytelling through visuals.
Creative Ability Test (CAT)
Tests design, creativity, drawing skills, and innovative thinking.
Mainly for B.Des & M.Des aspirants.
General Ability Test (GAT)
Tests quantitative ability, communication ability, English comprehension, analytical ability, and general knowledge.
Applicable for all courses.
Situation Test / Group Discussion & Personal Interview
For shortlisted candidates (UG have Situation Test; PG have GD & PI).

General Ability Test (GAT)
Quantitative Ability – Basic mathematics (number system, profit & loss, percentages, averages, ratios, simple & compound interest, algebra, geometry, and mensuration).
Communication Ability & English Comprehension – Vocabulary, grammar, synonyms & antonyms, sentence completion, reading comprehension.
Analytical Ability & Logical Reasoning – Series, pattern recognition, puzzles, coding-decoding, analogy.

Situation Test ( B.Des )
The NIFT Situation Test checks creativity, model-making, and idea presentation. Shortlisted B.Des candidates create a 3D model with given materials and submit a short concept note. Evaluation is based on innovation, neatness, practicality, finishing, and time management. Practice with basic craft materials, focus on neat work, and review past themes to build strong visualization and concept skills.

Group Discussion & Personal Interview ( PG Courses )
NIFT PG admission includes GD & PI to evaluate communication, clarity, leadership, industry awareness, and creative/business thinking. In GD, candidates discuss a topic and show teamwork and confidence. The interview focuses on goals, knowledge, and portfolio (if applicable). Prepare recent trends, design/business news, and a strong self-intro. Speak clearly, stay calm, and be structured.
